FAQs

What is the MyMasjid Digital WiFi Receiver?

Listen to your local masjid, or any masjid worldwide, from anywhere and automatically play whenever the masjid begins to broadcast, exactly like an analogue radio. The difference being that you connect the receiver to your WiFi or mobile data, allowing you to listen at any distance from the masjid. Once connected, enjoy interference-free, crystal clear sound as if you were actually sitting in the masjid. Click here for more details.

How do I set up the MyMasjid Digital WiFi Receiver?

Download our Quick Setup Guide or watch our Video Guide to quickly set up your digital receiver and you will be listening to your favourite masjid in no time.

My masjid isn't listed on my receiver. How do I listen to it?

Not to worry. Provided the masjid you want to listen to has a digital system fitted, all you need is their live stream URL – you can kindly request this from the masjid themselves. Then you can follow the steps in section E of the Quick Setup Guide and you’ll be listening to your masjid in no time.

The audio on my receiver keeps stopping or breaking up. How do I fix this?

This can be caused by poor WiFi signal reception or network congestion.

If areas of your home do not receive a good signal, this will result in the audio playback to break up or stop. We recommend relocating the device closer to your router if possible. If not, a WiFi range extender or booster could help to improve the signal in that room.

If you’re close to your router and this is still happening, try the following to improve connectivity:

1. Turn off your receiver completely using the ON/OFF switch at the back of the receiver.
2. Then turn off your WiFi router, unplug it for 30 seconds and turn it back on.
3. Once the WiFi is fully online, turn the receiver back on.

IMPORTANT: Make sure you have the latest firmware version by manually restarting the receiver to trigger any pending updates.

My masjid is live but my receiver still says "Connecting...". Why?

This can be caused by poor WiFi signal reception or network congestion.

If areas of your home do not receive a good signal, this will result in the “Connecting…” status being displayed on the Playback screen.

There is a delay between the live audio and my receiver audio. Why?

As with any internet live stream, be it audio or video, stream delay is unavoidable as the stream data needs to travel to the host server before reaching your device, unlike a traditional radio signal that is transmitted directly to the receiving device.

Despite this, our Digital Receiver does quite well, as it is directly integrated with our server resulting in a very short delay, typically 2-3 seconds. Of course, this delay will only be noticeable if you can actually hear the live audio source at the same time, which would rarely be the case.

IMPORTANT: Make sure you have the latest firmware version by manually restarting the receiver to trigger any pending updates.

How do I scan the QR code to activate my receiver?

Most smartphones will have a QR/barcode scanner built into the camera app.

Open your camera app and point at the QR code. Make sure there are no reflections and let the camera focus on the QR code. You should receive a popup on the screen when the code is detected – press the popup and you will be taken to our product registration form.

Once complete, turn the device off and on. Now select “Find MyMasjid” to find your masjid in our directory and start listening live.

I can't scan the QR code to activate my receiver. What shall I do?

First, try with another smartphone if possible. If not, text “ACTIVATE” to the number on the activation card (in the box). You should receive a reply within 24 hrs requesting some information.

This info will be used to activate your device from our side – once activated, you will be notified via text. Your device will typically be activated within 24 hours of providing the requested information.

I have filled the form but nothing happens when I press "Activate Device". What shall I do?

Firstly, make sure there are no blank fields. Confirm that the serial number you have entered is in the correct format (in ALL CAPS with no spaces). Make sure no fields are blank. If you have confirmed all this, and still nothing happens, try the following:

1. Close/clear the form your phone.

2. Restart your receiver using the ON/OFF switch.

3. Once booted and reconnected to WiFi, select “Find MyMasjid” and you will prompted to scan the QR code again. Before scanning, press the SCROLL/SELECT button on the receiver – this will refresh the QR code.

4. Now scan again and you will be taken to the same form. Fill all fields (leave none blank), then press “Activate Device”. You should receive a pop-up confirming the device has been activated.

If you are still unsuccessful after these steps, text “ACTIVATE” to the number on the activation card (in the box). You should receive a reply within 24 hrs requesting some information.
